Need an awesome, hearty winter meal you can cook in no time? Beef stew is great, you can make it easily, and it’s a great leftover for lunches.
Step 1: Cook the beef
Stewing beef typically comes already cubed, but if not, just cut the meat into small chunks, and put it in a pot on medium heat with a little oil. Cook until the meat is browned. Add the red wine and stir until all the brown at the bottom of the pan is pulled off.
Step 2: Add everything
Mix the water with everything except the carrots and potatoes, and stir together, then put in the pan with the beef, and add the potatoes and carrots. Bring to a boil, then turn town to a simmer and cover. Cook until the potatoes and carrots are tender.
Step 3: Thicken and serve
If you want a thick stew, you can add 1 Tbsp of cornstarch mixed with water, and stir in near the end. If not, then just pour in a bowl and serve.
